UFI CODE
The UFI code is a unique 16-character code that identifies the composition of a mixture or product. It is a mandatory code for hazardous mixtures and is part of the Poison Center Notification under the CLP Regulation.
The UFI Code: What is it?
Since January 2021, all new hazardous mixtures receive an additional code on the label: the UFI code. By 1 January 2025, this UFI code must be indicated on every hazardous mixture.
UFI stands for Unique Formula Identifier. This is an alphanumeric code consisting of 16 characters with an internal control key.
The UFI code ensures that the mixture can be quickly identified in the event of a calamity. This enables swift and effective action to be taken to provide the right assistance and to minimize the consequences of a calamity.

The new PCN portal: A central notification at the poison centers
To notify a product with the EU Poison Centers, there is now one central portal available. Through this portal, rnotification can be done in one go for all necessary countries. The format and required information are the same for all countries.
For a rnotification via the PCN portal, information is needed on the composition of the product, as well as on its physical properties and packaging.
In addition to a UFI code, an EuPCS code is also required. EuPCS stands for European Product Categorisation System. With the help of this system, products receive a code for their main intended use.
